Data deliver futureproof models for smart logistics

There is still a lot to gain in container logistics through effective system links and data enrichment. Demurrage, detention, demanding customers: how can you use a container most efficiently for your organization and for your customers?

We have greatly improved the efficiency of inland terminal of our client through smart data integration. Such trajectories seem simple, but in fact require a lot of knowledge and experience. Our client’s customers have different ways of data registration. The data linking itself does not require much work, but the mutual coordination is all the more. Especially if their customer is a large and complex multinational. That is why we have set up two projects:

Automating intake and information provision containers

By automating the request for containers and integrating systems of shipping companies and terminals, a customer can automatically place orders in his own system. After the request, this customer can continuously see the status of the container.

Create self-learning system

Neural networks / AI or advanced stochastic decision techniques ensure logistical optimization. It immediately becomes clear which container must be collected from the terminal via which modality - boat or truck. It can sometimes even be more efficient to leave a container for a while. Even if there are (demurrage) costs involved.

Final result

Our experts were able to implement and test the proposed solutions immediately after coordination; “Is the customer’s API working as promised?” Crucial to the success was that our involved experts were able to program the integration as well as engage in substantive discussions with the customer.
